Provincetown, MA — Cape Cod’s first community bank, Seamen’s Bank, announces that its President and CEO for the past eight years, Lori Meads, is retiring, effective May 15, 2026. Meads left a lasting mark on Seamen’s Bank with leadership that contributed greatly to the Bank’s success. Before becoming the Bank’s President and CEO, Meads served the Bank in multiple roles, beginning in 1992. Steve Roderick, Seamen’s Bank Chairman of the Board, said, “We are grateful for all of Lori’s contributions to Seamen’s Bank. She has helped lay the groundwork for an exciting future for the Bank.” He added that while Meads served as President, “Seamen’s Bank made great progress on our new branch conveniently located on Harry Kemp Way, made technological strides for our customers’ ease and efficiency of banking, and continued Seamen’s dedication to generously supporting this community that goes back 175 years.” For her part, Meads said, “Leading this organization has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Our success has always been rooted in the strength of our employees. Their dedication and support have made this journey both meaningful and rewarding. Now, after over three decades of service to Seamen’s Bank, I look forward to spending more time with my family, and exploring other interests and new opportunities.”
The Bank will continue pursuing its initiatives: building a new office, celebrating its 175th anniversary, and expanding its staff with a view toward continued growth and community service. “In an ever-changing world, it is important that we evolve to best meet the contemporary needs of our customers as we stay firm in our commitment as a community bank.” said Roderick.

From implementing new technologies that offer advantages to customers wherever they may be on the globe, to the easily accessible branch soon to open on Harry Kemp Way, the Board and staff have made significant headway toward the future. With careful strategic forethought, the Bank is paving the way for a strong and lengthy future as an independent, mutually-owned financial institution dedicated to its customers and neighbors.

Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Michael K. Silva will serve as Interim President while the Board of Trustees conducts a search for a President. Silva has worked at Seamen’s Bank for 33 years, including over 20 years as Treasurer. According to Silva, the new Seamen’s Bank branch on Harry Kemp Way will open to the public this summer. With modern amenities in a favored traditional setting, the location will offer a convenient drive-up window, easy parking, and an ATM. The spacious interior will offer private offices for customers to meet with bank officers, managers and customer service professionals.

Founded in 1851, Seamen’s Bank is Cape Cod’s first community bank. A mutual bank, Seamen’s Bank is operated for the benefit of its customers and their community, not for stockholder profit. Serving the Cape from Provincetown to Dennis with five offices, Seamen’s Bank is widely respected for personalized, professional service and generous support of worthy nonprofit organizations.
